Volume of sand transported increases with wind speed. Wind transport becomes very significant with wind speeds of the order of 40-45 km/hour. Sand particles transported for the most part in saltation. Long, low leaps close to the dune surface. The sand grain is blown up the gentle slope and over the crest to fall down the slip face.
