(ussr and china) Africa was important to the cold war, africa was decolonizing. Often africa is forgotten when considering the cold war. This was important to zambia, allowed them to ship goods like copper on the railways and exit at the indian ocean and zambia became a wealthy country in part to chinese assistance. China is the largest trading partner to africa. This graph shows that in beginning about 2000, trade begins between china and africa.
