Document Summary

Limits (with a bit of focus on food/agriculture; also moving into latin america) International trade: good or bads? (food as an example) We get diverse food all year at a good price (dramatically increases diversity) \ Farmers in poor countries get income (supporting people of other countries) Cheap imports can undercut jobs and livelihoods (countries suffer this) Trade can be unfair- farmers and farm workers in latin america get paid very little. Our demand for cheap goods leads to environmental degradation (pollution, overfishing, deforestation, etc) When we buy something we can and should pay attention to how it was produced. Others are responsible for working conditions and environmental impacts, like governments, or the corporation who buys it. An alternative approach to conventional trade and it based on a partnership between producers and consumers. It does not work to help others, but to make things fair.
