" [t]his norm is usually defined as white, thin, male, young, heterosexual, christian and financially secure. Privilege: key circumstances produced by racism= lives of privilege for some, male privilege, straight privilege, etc, privilege if often invisible to those who have it. Includes privilege in social, legal, and political structures, and everyday life. White privilege: whiteness= normal, neutral, and universal, blackness/brownness = abnormal, specific and particular. Intersectionality: means race, gender, sexuality, class (and so on!) must be thought together -> these privilege and oppression are related not separate. Heteronormativity: system of social relations in which heterosexuality is institutionally and ideologically/ discursively privileged at the expense of queer sexualities.
