One of the first ones hbo: home box office. Rome (2005-2007): cost a lot and couldn"t gain back the amount used. First aired on january 10, 1999 on premium cable network hbo. Created by david chase- long time writer and producer in american television: he was turned by every single network and went to hbo, he helped hbo gain a lot more subscribers. Focused more on the criminals than the officials, which was different then what was on tv. Things to look out for: how does this fit into the traditional gangster narrative, a critique of the family (both kinds) Wife and daughter don"t really get along. Takes care of his workers: representation of modern psychiatry. Can people with mental illnesses get help and get healed or are they doomed for life. Not being in touch with feelings: representation of crime. Being a crime boss, wanting everyone to respect them.
