Weekend is a very difficult film, but his earlier films were much more complicated. The time when the film was made were important times in terms of politics. In weekend, we see the voice of the third world. 60s were eventful as there were movements against imperialism and colonialism in the third world during those years. There were anti-war movements around the world in the 60s.
