Stealing (1987) - blending of the two lyrical and narrative genres. In medias res - in the middle of things. Conventional for this poem that we learn more from the speaker than they meant to give away. Somebody has asked a question, obviously, offpage. The person is relying that you do not understand them on some level. Usually addressed to one person; can be addressed to multiple. Strophic; a poem made of strophies, or stanzas. Theme of theft, isolation, not belonging, impulsive, self-destructive, confused. The putative audience; the assumed audience; unseen auditor. Literature in performance; supposed to view it, not just read it. The players receive it as a written out script. Main genres of drama: comedy and tragedy. A particular kind of comedy, satire; satirical comedy.
