Femininity and woman are not exclusive of each other. You can be feminine but not a woman and a woman but not be feminine. Because men write the narratives on trans women, the stories are typical, traditional and normalized. If you want access to certain medical care you must act a certain way, which reinforces the traditional model set up by men who are in charge of the medical duties. Members lived and worked together; communally owned 3 houses which included a living compound and recording station. All the musicians she worked with knew she was trans. People not involved with her got really angry because they thought she was keeping it a secret and the collective were not ok with it. Peoples showed up with guns and threats to one of her shows. She left when the entire label was threatened. Conflict of trans women in women-only spaces.
