Example in class: a coach who learnt through embodiment and a coach who learnt through enculturation may not be told apart on a day-by-day basis. In enculturation, you are limited to what you"ve heard and what you"ve been told, but if you"re embodied, you can make decisions based upon your extensive experience on the ground. Also in enculturation, it is difficult to think outside of the box because everything is based upon rules. In active failures, there is a specific bad decision or technical fault. Usually, investigators are primed and trained to look into these failures and get closure on them. In latent failures, managerial or organisational cultures are the issue. Step-wise learning model: detection of near-accidents, selection of most relevant, description of them, cause identification and classification. In this, bounded rationality and heuristics affect how it is actually implemented in comparison to how it is designed to be implemented. Kahan argues that people"s cultural cognition underlies their beliefs.
