Restorative justice: involves those who have a stake in the specific offence to address harm, needs, etc. Restorative justice deals with reconceptualizing what a crime is. Proponents of restorative justice seek to bring human relations back into the criminal event and the disputes that arise out of criminal conduct. Crime is a violation of people and relationships between people. Restorative justice processes seeks to restore those relationships. S. 718 2. e opens up the possibility of the implementation of alternative and restorative forms of sentencing. In the late 1990s, early 2000s, there was an enthusiasm for restorative justice which was largely a result of popular disillusionment with the criminal justice system.
