Document Summary

Part of the inflammatory response is to increase leakage of fluid from the blood with the dissolved proteins in it (still needs activation: the complement system is composed of many molecules that fall into 7 categories: Prrs to trigger phagocytosis: anaphylatoxins: trigger more inflammation, membrane attack complex: forms holes in membrane of pathogen, complement receptors: detect and respond to complement, on cell surfaces (white blood cells or cells that can respond and detect complement) C# = inactive form cleavage c#b = big piece and c#a = small piece: during the pathways, enzymatic molecules are activated to further activate the complement molecules. The classical pathway: initiation is done by c1 complex (a molecule), but it only initiates when it binds to an antibody in the right configuration. There are 5 types of ig and a few subtypes: igg, igm, igd, ige, Igg: secreted as a monomer, needs to or more to trigger complement. So that the system is no accidentally triggered.
