Natural selection increases the frequency of certain alleles. Genetic drift causes allele frequencies to change randomly. Gene ow occurs when individuals immigrate into or emigrate from a population. Allele frequencies may change when gene ow occurs: immigration of organisms of teh same species that bring new frequencies and some new alleles. Mutation modi es allele frequencies by continually introducing new alleles. 5 non-random mating doesn"t change allele frequencies, but it does alter genotype frequencies. Human mn blood group system: two alleles code for a two version of proteins, one is m and other n.
