The lines that go across the painting to meet at the center emphasis that focal point. The lines are straight horizontal or vertical, they almost go diagonal across the canvas to join in the middle. The lines are almost diagonal, conveying a feeling of movement. Looking more closely to the details you can see there are also lines going in circles, almost in the background of the paining. These circles add a different shape to the painting creating an illusion of movement.
