Symbolic anthropology & the question of meaning. Charter targeted the display of religious symbols (conspicuous rs) If you worked with the government you can"t wear anything that implies your religion. The state banned the use of symbols, the intent is to promote a united and specular society and the symbols would have proposed a threat. The government thought that if the symbol were worn than they would have prioritized their religion than their state or province. It became clear that this decision has been targeting muslims and seeks in particular. Its pointing at the key principle is the politically and religious debate over what the symbol is or what the symbols mean or what they should be allowed to mean and what makes a symbol. It is a contemporary issue that turns our attention to the symbols. In the 60s and 7os it was during the rise of the symbolic anthropology where people studied religion through the study of symbol.
