Leadership: is required in all functions of management and is necessary to attain resource effectiveness and organization performance. Dynamic aspects of leadership can have a time-related affect on performance. Good leadership needs to contribute to organizational goals. Good leaders aren"t known for their behaviors, but rather by their organization/unit"s achievements b/c of the leadership. Leadership style a leader"s behaviour while in the leadership role. The way the personality of the leader is expressed in a leadership situation. Personality: traits that are somewhat permanent behaviours of a leader that make up the style. Situation: everyone reacts differently per their perceptions of the situation. There are leadership characteristics that are situationally specific. Power dimension (a model of leadership style) : power: the decision-making authority (vertical axis) Authoritarian: the leader has exclusive authority to make decisions (top of axis) Laisse-faire: leader who takes no part in decision-making process (bottom of axis)
