All organizations can divide their daily work into 2 areas: Operations: the work done on a day-to-day basis to keep the organization going. Both are temporarily and eventually finish and are performed by people that work within the organization. Constrained by limited resources e. g. time, resources, skills. Operational work: day-to-day activities e. g. cashiers making sales, finance role, administration role, maintenance etc. Project work: to either fix a problem or to take advantage of a business opportunity.
