Ethics: refers to the principle of right and wrong that individuals use to make choices to guide their behaviors. Code of ethics: is a collection of principles that is intended to guide decision making by members of the organization. Improvements in the it are causing an increasing number of ethical problems: computer processing power doubles about every 2 years. Therefore organizations are able to store more information about you and for longer: computer networks enable organizations to collect, integrate, and distribute enormous amounts of information on individuals, groups and institutions. Ethical problem: appropriate use of customer information, personal privacy, and the protection of intellectual property. Information privacy: the right to determine when, and to what extent, information about yourself can be gathered and/or communicated to others: two rules to information privacy: The right of privacy is not absolute. Privacy must be balanced against the needs of society. The public"s right to know supersedes the individual"s right to privacy.
