The company prides itself as being problem-solvers, this gives the idea of the company being a decentralized decision-making environment. Rather than just the managers and upper authority making decision, the lower level employees can also make decisions and not be penalized for it. Verizon relies heavily on customer satisfaction and loyalty, and that would not be present if their problems and questions were not solved and answered speedily. Centralized systems can often take days before a problem is solved so it is much more efficient for verizon to be decentralized. A multi billion-dollar company such as verizon needs some level of authority.
