Also relates to the systemic nature of products and how their components interact (products are system of components interacting on an architectural design serving a desired purpose) Two aspects of systems: type and nature of the components and how its organized systems architecture. Component/modular innovations change to the products components but leaves overall configuration of the system intact ex. Changing steel in automobiles to lighter weight aluminum. Architectural innovation alters the systems architecture or how the components interact and are linked to eachother (must change component/modular components as well) ex. Laptop computer just changes its portability compared to regular computer everything else the same.
