The construct of what a good family looks like in canada is always white and heteronormative. The structure of the family has not changed a whole lot, example chores- men are cleaning more, but not as equal measure as to women. Women when they have paid work, women are often critiques leaving work to look after children. We never talking about working moms, but never working men. Those notions of dependence continue to exist now. Women in waterloo region, they make 68 cents to the dollar that men make. We have awful history of who is allowed a family and who is not. Men and women learned very early on, that they will never be allowed a family the same way white women do. Women were readily raped by white men, so make sure black men knew that they (cid:449)o(cid:374)"t (cid:271)e at the sa(cid:373)e sta(cid:374)dards as (cid:449)hite (cid:373)e(cid:374) Attitudes that continue to show to what represents a good family.
