Volunteering abroad is a popular way for people to expand their horizons, learn more about themselves and about global issues. Volunteering abroad can take a number of forms, but two of the most common include international volunteerism and international service learning. When engaging in an international volunteer opportunity, here are some of the duties; Typically you would contribute financially to a portion of the total cost and receiving training prior to the start of the placement. Spend time volunteering with charities/organizations in various countries. Projects may include working in an orphanage, helping to build a school, working in rural areas on projects, etc. It is worthy to note that your time commitment for different placement can vary widely. This is one of the added bonuses of doing a placement abroad. You not only get to help out, but you also get to be a tourist in the region.
