Volunteering abroad is a popular way for people to expand their horizons, learn more about global issues, and explore countries and communities around the world. Volunteering abroad can take a number of forms but two of the most common include international volunteerism and international service learning through a specific organization or charity. Primary goal involves the international goal of developing in students a set of knowledge and skills dispositions that are focused on global citizenship. Benefits and challenges of international volunteerism and engagement: Benefits are: social participating in cross cultural exchange of ideas, personal learning a new language. Challenges are: contributing financially to the trip. Identity is a common feeling experienced by individuals participating in these programs is that they challenge you to reconsider who you are and your role within your community and the global world.
