Sex: humans are divided into two distinct sexes on the basis of biological features (chromosomes, sex organs, hormones, etc. ) Biological determinism: people"s dispositions, attitudes, behaviours, social roles, and other personal qualities are determined by their biology. What people are born with is what they are their entire life. Women are natural caregivers and are naturally weaker than men, so they should not go to university and should stay at home. Men are naturally more aggressive, and competitive so they should go out and make money. Essentialism: attributing social constructs to biological or genetic causes. Gender essentialism: purports that male-female differences in sexual scripts, the division of labour (home and workplace), selection of partners, sexual aggression, etc. , are natural and universal. Male of the household is the breadwinner. Cisgender: people whose gender identity matches the sex they were assigned at birth; sex = gender.
