More popular than ever at elite levels, participation rates across age groups continue to decline. Tr(cid:455)i(cid:374)g to select out of the (cid:862)tale(cid:374)t(cid:863) far, far too (cid:455)ou(cid:374)g many decide to give it up at a young age. By about age 13, many young people have left their sport. 1/3 men regularly play, only 1/6 of women. Girls are more active if moms are involved. Need to drop obsession with being the best: workplace. Learning to play the role before entering it. With more participation, individuals begin to integrate into self-concept. Cost cutting (especially labour) which usually means downsizing/closing facilities in most industrialized countries and locating to where labour costs, taxes and environmental protection is much lower. Textile/garment industries among the first to be globalized. Involves interaction/integration of increase numbers through international trade and investment, travel and tourism, information technology and mass media. Many new immigrants work as domestics or textile workers (soft sectors) because of decrease in transferable skills.
