Imagine how different the interaction with each would be: time is also a symbolic interaction. We think it has particular meaning, but changes in its context: words we use as symbols. Functional analysis (functionalism, structural functionalism): durkheim, macro level, sociological theory that views society as a unit made up of interrelated parts that work together. Class conflict theory: marx, macro level, concludes that class struggle is the key to all human history. If you change the law, hopefully the customs follow: non-marxist feminist theory, patriarchy oppresses women, power, dominance, hierarchy, competition to keep women down.
