Document Summary

The development of common gods, stories traditions but it is also local (ranges between cities) Set of gods at the top of the social hierarchy- this became universal among hindus. Shiva - destroyer (necessary for rebirth, not negative) But they work in harmony- cyclical religion where everything must work in harmony. Underlying hinduism is the assumption that everything is one- therefore gods are part of this oneness but they represent certain aspects of life (to understand) Samsara is the cycle of reincarnation reincarnation happens repeatedly - the next reincarnation is always dependant on what happened during the life that was previously lived. Moksha is the peace that is achieved (meaning liberty) after all reincarnation is done. Karma - good gets good, so the reincarnation is related to previous lives (its about lifetimes not moments) Not all hindus try and achieve moksha right away because they realize that their life now is far from it.
