Hypnotic virtuosos: have exceedingly interesting abilities, e. g. , hypnotic suggestions for hallucinations, for pain, or for lack of pain (hypnotic analgesia) In brain imaging studies, their brains light up as if the hypnotic suggestion is actually happening. Individual setting: the hypnotist observes and scores the person"s response to each item: research investigating the discrepancy between self-report and observer-report finds that self-reports tend to be off only by small amounts (about 1 in 12 items)
