Cp considers both community-contextual and clinical-individual perspectives as intertwined in stress and coping. Predisposing processes which shape stressors, resources, coping processes, and outcomes. Distal contextual factors; cultural traditions, neighbourhood crime, poverty. Distal personal factors: genetic and other biological factors, personality traits. Major life effects, life transitions, daily hassles, disasters etc. Some coping resources may also be proximal (social support) The personal experience of stress may include physiological, emotional, behavioural, cognitive, and social components. Individuals activate resources for coping with stressors, often from many ecological levels. Types of resources: material, social emotional, social, cultural, and spiritual resources. Reappraisal/reframing: altering one"s perception of the situation or its meaning. Emotion focused: wanting to talk it through, venting. Wellness: more than the absence of problems, strengths.
