Gender difference in onset - men early 20s, women later 20s
Comorbidity
Highly comorbid with substance abuse - to try to slow/control thoughts

Mood and anxiety disorders - depression most common among mood, and social
anxiety most common among anxiety
Schizophrenia has a very high rate of mortality - life expectancy is 20 years less than
normal
Suicide is common
Substance abuse - overdose
Cost to govt and system is higher than other disorders mainly due to hospitalization
rates
