Ascending reticular activating system (aras): brain stem -> cerebral cortex. This was a guy who had a railroad spike fly right through his skull and survived. His personality became silly like a child & he wasn"t very socially acceptable anymore. A client who had frontal lobe damage from an accident. Formerly a regular, organized lady, she became messy & dirty. Somatic marker hypothesis: proposes that emotional processes guide behavioural decision-making.
