Prejudice a negative prejudgment of a group and its individual members. Stereotypes a belief about the personal attributes of a group of people. Stereotypes can be overgeneralized, inaccurate, and resistant to new information. Can be positive or negative accurate or inaccurate. It is when stereotypes overgeneralize that they are usually seen as a bad thing. Prejudice is a negative attitude and discrimination is a negative behaviour towards a group or its members. Racism is an institutional practice that discriminates toward people of a given race. Sexism is the same but towards people of a given gender. Overt expression of prejudice has decrease over 75 years but subtle forms of prejudice are still widespread. Subtle forms of prejudice sometimes called modern or cultural racism appear subtly in our preferences for what is familiar, similar, and comfortable. Automatic prejudice the unconscious implicit prejudice that people have that is occurring without one knows.
