Finding a deffinition is hard, it is essentially behaviour that has energy, direction and purpose/ endurance. Understand human behaviour and why it changes, starts and stopps. A gfigure from te text tha shows motives, Anticeedents come before, it modualtes motives (need, cognition or emotion) Cause them to rise and fall an external event= headache dcould increase or decrease need for somthing = water. Conditinos within an individual that are essentil for life and nurtutance for well being cognitions. Emotions: are complex coordinated reactions to significant events. Feeling= your subjective take on what you are experienceing. Arousal = the bodies experienc, so you can do something about the feeling/ emotion. Purpose= motvational urge to accomplish something, want to do something about it. All of this is to promote adaptation.
