PS260 Lecture Notes - Lecture 11: Episodic Memory, Parvocellular Cell, Cognitive Model
Document Summary
Overwriting: original event memory + post event information = post event information. 17 vision 1 low level vision: early theories of visual perception o structuralism, wundt. Visible light forms part of the spectrum of electromagnetic radiation, which also contains radio waves and x rays. Newton (1672) discovered that light can be split into many colours. Different colours arise from different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. These differences are captured by three kinds of cone; red, green, blue. Live in same world as other creatures but see the world differently. Information is averaged into brain, signal is being combined on the way, lesser extent in bird: very large eyes to maximize the amount of light hitting the retina. Exceptionally high density of retinal receptors (i. e. buzzards have 1 000 000 receptors per mm2 of retina whereas we have about 200 000 per mm2)
