Physical symptoms (muscle tension, dizziness, sweating, heart palpitations) 2 components: obsessions consistent/ persistent unwanted thoughts, compulsions cognitive behaviours repetitive ritualized behaviours these ritualized behaviours are carried out to avoid disasters -> might think if i don"t do this, someone will die or this will happen.
