Document Summary
Argues for the main points that parmenides tries to prove his conclusion. Paradoxes against motion: a race track. If a runner is going to reach the end of the racetrack, they have to complete an infinite number of journeys. Logically unable to complete and infinite number of journeys. He wants us to believe that motion is just an illusion and we"re always stationary based on the idea of infinity. To counter, aristotle says you can complete if you don"t have to complete them in succession. There"s going to be a race between achilles and a tortoise. Since achilles is faster the tortoise is given a head start. Achilles is never able to catch up with the tortoise as long as he is constantly in motion. Unclear what he is trying to prove with this, but we don"t have the entire paradox so it might have more. Achilles is able to overcome to tortoise as long as he moves faster: arrow.
