Students have an unrealistic view of how well they can multi-task and it"s causing a negative impact. Not only does it hinder the academic performance of the students with the device themselves, it also negatively affects the students around the devices. This means that even if a student comes to class ready to learn, without the distraction of a electronic device, the mere presence of these devices in the peers will do damage. To make things worse, students aren"t aware of this effect.
