Document Summary

Cultural relativism is a theory that has been explored for many years and will be discussed further throughout this paper. The theory communicates that different cultures have different moral codes (cahn 56) and that the idea of a universal truth in ethics () is a myth (cahn 56). In simplified terms, it means that there is no universal standard of morality and each culture has a different set of moral codes. Although this theory is useful in an eye-opening way that unveils that the world is decorated with different cultures, it is also flawed. An individual can justify any of their actions through cultural relativism, which exposes a shortcoming of the theory that i will critique further on. I will begin by explaining the cultural relativism argument and what it means. Next, i will disclose arguments against cultural relativism that are widely accepted to disprove the theory.
