Obstacles: a hindrance, problem, or hurdle that gets in the way of followers and make it difficult for followers to reach their goals. Come in many forms: physical thing, psychological issue, task-related issue. They are important for leaders to recognize because they provide clear cues for what leaders can do to help followers. Addressing them can be very direct and practical. There are various ways leaders can respond to these obstacles: obstacle 1: unclear goals. Sometime the goal is not known, obscure and sometimes it is hidden among a tangle of competing goals. Goals are not clearly articulated and understood. Person is less likely to be successful in achieving them. People are the exception and not the rule. Everyone should deserves a clear picture of where their leader needs to clarify it. Individuals doing the work will be more effective and more satisfied as a result of knowing their goals: obstacle 2: unclear directions.
