Document Summary

Tendons that cross wrist are deep to extensor retinaculum. O: (anterior) lateral supracondylar ridge of humerus and lateral intermuscular septum of arm (separates muscles into regions) I: lateral side of distal end of radius. Only crosses the elbow joint therefore only actions on the elbow. If you are in a neutral position and you flex at the elbow then it will work. O: lateral supracondylar ridges of humerus, lateral intermuscular septum and lateral epicondyle (common extensor tendon) just distal of the brachioradialis. A: extends the hand at the wrist and radial deviation. A: extension of the hand at the wrist. O: lateral epicondyle, intermuscular septa and antebrachial fascia. Has 2 attachment points (on the middle phalanx and the distal phalanx) Allows for extension to happen for efficiently. A: extends all the joints of the fingers, but can only extend interphalangeal joint when metaphalangeal joints are not hyperextended. I: middle and distal phalanges of 5th digit.
