Non-Scientific Ways of Knowing
● Knowing on a priori grounds
○ Intuitively true, based on reasonableness not experience
● Knowing by tenacity
○ Taken as true because commonly held to be true
● Knowing by authority
○ Taken as true because an “expert” says it is true
Scientific Way of Knowing
● The Scientific Method
○ Systematic, empirical observation
○ Replicable
○ Formal logic, constantly applied
