Medium is like a channel of distribution from sender to the receiver. The medium is the way a message is being sent to one another, ex. telephone, text, email. Mass media: being sent to a mass number of people using one medium, ex. Technology is commonly used as a tool to enhance communication and human abilities, ex. Shoes, naked and afraid shoes not given and dont have the technology of using them, if given they can use them for advantages as traversing terrain. The extent of empire could be used as an indication of the efficiency of communication" (innis, 1972:9) Written communication was better than verbal communication as it is harder to get around to everyone without messing up the message.
