CT250 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Natural Selection 2, Natural Selection, Scientific Method
Document Summary
If all gender differences are based sole on biology. People"s perception towards women and men may fundamentally change. Biology is always itself shaped by culture and society and the kind of the questions that biology/us may ask. Science being persuasive and authoritative - scientific method is used by people. When looking biological perspective, we ask - what kind of discourse being used. When looking into sex and gender, we consider what differs us in terms of science. Science that was true was later proved to be untrue. Part of the discourse - that women weren"t fully developed humans, our vaginas were undeveloped genitals. Natural selection - what is most needed for that adaptation. We adapt to survive - we are given problems that could lead to distinction, so we adapt to the changing environment. Ex, the birds that have longer bees are more likely to survive because they can get more food. Because they survive longer, they will reproduce more.
