History of forensics: 1600: small communities, easy to pin criminals. Forensic science: science as a tool to the criminal and civil justice systems. Science role in justice system: provides accurate information that is objective in nature, provides information about the crime scene and what might have occurred. Forensic science: any branch of science may be used, any type of legal proceedings, criminal law (ie. murder, assault, arson, robbery, environmental law, civil law, banned substances, work health & safety, consumer law. Role of the forensic scientist: supply accurate and objective information on, collection of evidence, analysis of evidence. Interpretation of evidence: we do this by providing, affidavit/court report, expert/court testimony, remain up-to-date on, training, accreditation requirements, be persistent, critical, consistent, methodical, objective, accurate.
