The requirements: understanding customer needs, paying attention to marketing, making use of outside tech and advice, top mgt support. The solution: boundary-spanning marketing department that talks to boundary-spanning r&d department that both talk to prod. department overseen by senior manager. The situation: occasionally organizations will want to change strategy, structure, goals, policies etc.
