Improve match between employee"s knowledge, skills and abilities and what the organization needs (ie. improve fit with the job) Onboarding: onboarding: the process of integrating and acculturating new employees, providing new knowledge and skills to become successful and productive. Development: strategic importance: helps new hires to adjust to new peers, culture and to learn the job quicker which means better employees quicker. Policies, employee handbook: hr related topics. Involves turning outsiders into insiders: may have taken place even before employees join organization. Relationship between training and development: training: improving employees current ability to do their job, present job-related behaviour, development: future job responsibilities.
