BU231 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, Nba Coach Of The Year Award, Corporate Social Responsibility
Document Summary
Through corporate social responsibility: a lot of people tend to believe that csr is separate from business and decision-making but its not. Business decision-making is at all times a mix of financial considerations, legal considerations and ethical considerations. All three should be considered when making any decisions. The best decision is the one that"s in the center of all three circles; where the three considerations meet. Often law and ethics are confused to be the same although they"re very different from one another simply complying with your legal duties does not mean you"re complying with your ethical duties. Legal: it"s the lowest common denominator that we all accept. Driving on one side of the road rather than the other doesn"t have or need an ethical position. British drive on the opposite side of us doesn"t make them unethical. That"s just the law to keep us all safe and we accept it.
