Collection of people example: all employees who work at microsoft. Census: when researches gather data from the whole population given a measurement of interest. Sample: a sample is a portion of the whole. Its goal is to be a good representative of the whole. There are 75 light bulbs (population) you would take 40 of those light bulbs (sample) and test them. Descriptive statistics: gathering data on a group to describe or reach conclusions about the same group. Ex batting average,- used to describe an individual or team effort. Inferential statistics- gathering data from a sample then using the statistics to reach conclusions about the populations.
