Document Summary
Natural selection effect of mutations is to cause variation. Mutations occur randomly not to make them better, usually due to error in replication. Natural selection is the judge if the change was better or not. Better fitness = more likely to survive and reproduce offspring. Grey = no mutation pink = mutation with better survival (all pink, all have mutation in population) Same amino acid allows us to seet hat they are the same gene. Comparsion of regions or whole genomes can tell how related organism are to wach other. General level = any two genes from plants and animals should be more similar compared to each other than to bacteria (that are doing the same function) homologs= similar genes of similar function (usually transcription, translation realted) Model organisms studies to do experiements on non-humans. Supply a new gene on the worm and see the effect, can uses these to test what is genes effect what.
