Document Summary

Amino acid sequence determined by dna sequence. Network of interactions between molecules or groups of cells. The biological information in dna generates an enormous diversity of living organisms. In eukaryotic organisms biological information is stored in chromosomes. Eukaryotic chromosomes are contained in the nucleus. One chromosome consists of a single, linear dna double helix. Each individual strand of the double helix is composed of nucleotide subunits. Complementary base pairing is a key feature of the dna molecule. Dna is comprised of four nitrogenous bases. Hydrogen bonds exist between g-c and a-t nucleotides on each strand of the double helix. The two strands are complementary to each other. The two strands of the double helix have opposite orientation, as indicated by the 5" to 3" arrows. The information in dna is one-dimensional and is digital. Biological information is encoded in the nucleotide sequence of dna, and each unit of information is discrete.
