Document Summary

In mendel"s experiments: one allele was dominant over another, so phenotypes were easy to recognize. but sometimes phenotypes are not very obvious . If you cross a red snapdragon (rr) with a white snapdragon (rr) you get pink flowers (rr) Genes show incomplete dominance when the heterozygous phenotype is intermediate. Neither allele is dominant and both alleles are expressed in heterozygous individuals. Ao is a, bo is b, ab is ab therefore is codominant. Most traits are not controlled by a single gene locus, but by the combined interaction of many gene loci. They show continuous variation rather a few discrete forms. The interaction of genes with one or more alleles at one locus inhibit or mask the expression of a gene at a different locus. Dog one gene locus affects the coat color by controlling how densely the pigment is deposited into the fur. B is black coat b is brown coat.
